Crowns and Bridges

When a tooth decays, the decay must be removed before it damages the entire tooth. The tooth must be disinfected and the cavity filled to restore it to its healthy state. That’s what restorative dentistry is about – restoring your teeth to health – even after an accident or an illness.

Crowns

A crown is a permanent covering that fits over an original tooth that is either decayed, damaged or cracked. After we remove the decay or repair the damage, we cover the entire exposed tooth structure with a crown. Until fairly recently, this was a two-step process that involved making a temporary crown to protect the treated tooth until the permanent crown could be made by an offsite dental lab.

Bridges

A bridge is a dental device that fills a space where a tooth has been lost. A bridge may be necessary to prevent shifting of the teeth that can lead to bite problems, jaw problems and gum disease. Bridges protect existing teeth and help maintain a healthy, complete smile. And bridges can also be made using our CEREC technology.
